Tehran – Nahçivan railway project receives green light

Nahcivan-Iran_image00130Iran and Azerbaijan signed agreement to complete the Tehran-Nahcivan railway.
Iran and Azerbaijan agreed on constructing the railway connection between Nahcivan (Autonomous Region of Azerbaijan) and Iran.
There’s only a railway connection between neighbour cities of Jolfa (Iran) and Culfa (Nahcivan) and a new railway is needed to be constructed. The railway connection is planned to be completed during 2016.
Turkey has also a project to have an alternative rail connection to Iran via Nahcivan, but the project has not started yet.
