Taiwan: Taichung Green line train unveiled

TaichungTaipei Department of Rapid Transit Systems (DORTS) has presented the new EMU prototype for Taichung city MRT Green line. The train was unveiled at Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) factory in Hyogo, Japan.
The driver-less EMU cars consist of two train carriages, and gangways between carriages allow passengers to move from one carriage to another while the train is in motion. Both the exteriors and interiors of cars manifest a “fresh, bright, simple and light” feeling design concept. The cars characterized by streamlined front car along with bright windows and green-strip decoration highlight the EMU’s fancy style.
The first EMU is estimated to arrive in Beitun Depot of the Taichung City Green MRT line in the middle of February, and by the end of the year, 17 train cars are to be delivered in succession. Following the assembly and preparation of the train cars, a series of inspections and tests will be carried out.
