Slovakia leases Vectron locomotives for passenger services

Slovakian rail passenger operator ZSSK Slovakrail announced that it will rent 10 Vectron electric locomotives from German S Rail Lease, under a 10-year contract. The contract signed between the two companies has a value of EUR 59 million and includes the provision of maintenance services.
The vehicles must be approved for transport services in Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Austria and Hungary.
The leasing company will have to provide the first three locomotives by the end of this year, and further 4 locomotives should be delivered by June 2018, with the final batch of the three remaining vehicles, by December 2018.
They will be put into operation on Bratislava – Košice rail route.
S Rail Lease s.r.o. was established in July 2017 and it is owned by S Slovensko, spol. s r.o. (with an amount of investment of EUR 24.250) and Slovenská sporiteľňa, a.s. with an investment amount of EUR 750.
