Siemens has received an order from Titagarh Rail Systems Limited to supply advanced propulsion systems and train control and monitoring systems for the Pune Metro expansion in India. The contract covers equipment for 12 trains.
Siemens Limited has received an order from Titagarh Rail Systems Limited, an Indian rolling stock manufacturer, to supply advanced propulsion systems and train control and monitoring systems (TCMS) for the expansion of the Pune Metro, one of India’s major cities.
The contract includes the design, manufacture, delivery, and warranty for traction converters, auxiliary converters, traction motors, and TCMS systems for 12 trains.
Siemens is presenting the project as part of its commitment to the Make in India initiative, through regional production in the Indian state of Maharashtra.
Siemens Technology for the Indian Metro Market
Rajeev Joisar, Managing Director of the Mobility Division at Siemens Limited, stated that the partnership with Titagarh supports the development of India’s rapidly expanding metro market.

Titagarh Reports Nearly Complete Localization
Umesh Chowdhary, Vice President and Managing Director of Titagarh Rail Systems Limited, stated that the new contract strengthens the collaboration with Siemens and the development of local manufacturing for urban rolling stock.

Titagarh Rail Systems is an Indian provider of mobility solutions, active in both the passenger and freight rolling stock segments. The company manufactures semi-express trains, urban subways, passenger cars, propulsion systems, and various types of freight cars.
