Serbia: works on Ruma-Golubinci railway (Corridor X) launched

SerbiaRuma-Golubinci railway (17.9 km) is the second section funded from Russian loan, and the completition deadline is set for Seprember 2015, reports Tanjug agency.
”This is the second section funded from the Russian loan and recalled that the works on the Belgrade-Pancevo railway section are already underway. The Serbian Railways will modernise its railroad infrastructure and rolling stock in the time to come, and the reorganisation of the Serbian railway system will also be implemented in keeping with the agreement between the Serbian government and the International Monetary Fund,” Miroslav Stojcic, General Director of Serbian Railways said.
General Director of RZD International, Sergei Pavlov, said that 60 percent of Serbian companies would be hired in the execution of the works on the Ruma-Golubinci section. On the Belgrade-Pancevo railways section, as many as 70 percent of contractors are Serbian companies”Pavlov said.
USD 48.7 million is the total value of all three sections, Ruma-Golubinci, Sopot Kosmajski-Kovacevac and Velika Plana-Mala Krsna. Works are funded from the Russian loan, USD 800 million, for modernization of Serbia’s rail network.
On 6 March 2014, Serbian Railways and RZD International signed the Annex 2 of the Contract on Russian State Loan for the reconstruction and modernization of the six sections of Corridor 10, in a lenght of 112 kilometers and 228 meters, in the amount of USD 89.9 million. This is a section: Ruma-Golubinci (cca. 17.9 km), Sopot Kosmajski – Kovačevac (cca. 18.4 km), Mala Krsna – Velika Plana (cca. 29.5 km), Vinarc-Đorđev (cca. 15 km), Vranje Spa-Ristovac (cca. 17.7 km) and Bujanovac Bukarevac (cca. 13.8 km). On these sections, signal-security facilities and telecommunication systems will be reconstructed and modernized, as well as construction infrastructure.
In the same time, both parties negociated on Annex 5 to Contract on procurement of DMUs in the worth of USD 100 million, and on modernization of Novi Sad-Stara Pazova line, and part of Beograd – Bar railway.
