Serbia appoints Notified Body for Belgrade-Budapest line

Infrastructure of Serbian Railways selected Ricardo Certification to perform the Notified Body role for the 184-km section on Belgrade-Budapest rail upgrade project on Serbian territory.
Following the decision, a Notified Body is required to act as an independent third-party, conducting verification activities during its planning, construction and testing phases.
“The work will be carried out using our accredited Notified Body processes, and our team of expert assessors verified as possessing the required level of competence. We look forward to working with Infrastructure of Serbian Railways through to the completion of this section of the high-speed rail upgrade,” Michiel Vernooij, business manager of Ricardo Certification said.
The upgraded works will allow trains to run at speeds of up to 200km/h, cutting travel time between the two capitals to three hours.
In November, Serbian infrastructure manager and RZD International signed a USD 247 million contract for the construction and rehabilitation of the 40-km Stara Pazova – Novy Sad section, as part of Belgrade – Budapest line. Works are scheduled to start in the first quarter of this year.
