Railport Antwerp choses B-Logistics as port rail operator

01-antwerpIn order to enable distributed transport to play a central role in port-related rail transport, Railport Antwerp is setting up a two-year pilot project to test the practical advantages of having a specialist, neutral rail port operator.
After an extensive selection round, Railport Antwerp chose B-Logistics as its partner for this pilot project in a limited area on the Right bank of the Scheldt in Antwerp. B-Logistics will make its intra-port network available to other rail operators and local companies in order to organise distributed transport in the Antwerp port area. In the meantime B-Logistics and Railport will jointly investigate possible improvements for meeting customers’ requirements.
Distributed transport refers to the transport of hundreds of individual rail wagons between Antwerp North marshalling yard and the different rail companies in the port area.
