Prorail installs smart sensors along rail tracks

prorail-infra_media_xll_1203056Dutch operator Prorail plans to deploy smart sensors along the country’s railway tracks to help detect maintenance issues or potential problems. They will be connected to a wireless network to collect information such as temperature, vibrations, accelerations, air pressure and distance. The sensors were tested over the past year near Utrecht Central station, focusing on temperature measurements to see the impact of weather on the rails.
