PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe has signed two agreements regarding its accession to the international EULYNX consortium, during the 16th International Railway Fair TRAKO in Gdańsk.

The PKP PLK membership marks an important step towards further harmonisation of railway control systems in line with European standards. These standards lower lifecycle costs, reduce vendor lock-in, and enable flexible migration paths while ensuring interoperability and safety. With PLK’s participation, the consortium expands its reach and influence, strengthening the case for standardisation as the foundation for a future digital railway.
“Joining EULYNX consortium is an important step towards modernising Poland’s railway infrastructure. Thanks to a common European standard, we will achieve greater system interoperability, improve safety and service quality, and enhance the competitiveness of rail transport in Poland,” Piotr Wyborski, CEO of PKP PLK, said.
By joining the EULYNX consortium, PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe is committing to:
- standardising signalling systems in line with European requirements;
- increasing safety through reliable, open interfaces and interoperable systems;
- improving efficiency and punctuality through better train movement coordination;
- facilitating cooperation between technology providers and industry partners; and
- reducing the life-cycle costs of railway traffic control systems.
EULYNX is a European research and innovation initiative aimed at creating a unified standard for railway traffic management systems. The standard is based on an open, modular architecture, allowing for the integration of components from various suppliers. These solutions are being implemented by railway infrastructure managers across Europe.
“We are delighted to welcome PKP PLK, one of Europe’s largest infrastructure managers, into the EULYNX consortium. Their membership strengthens our collective market influence and underlines that standardisation is the cornerstone of safe, efficient, and digitalised rail systems,” Mirko Blazic, Technical Lead of EULYNX, said.
The signing of the agreement represents a key element of PLK’s strategy for implementing innovative and modern rail solutions, and for building a coherent transport system as part of the European network.
