Norway is ready to announce new tenders

Starting this autumn and in the next years, Bane NOR, the Norwegian rail infrastructure manager, will announce several billions tenders, company’s Head of Supplier Relations, Morten Sigvardsen, said.
The company has presented its projects under the InterCity Initiative that involves the construction of new double-track lines and new railway stations. For the projects, Scandinavian and European companies have shown their interest.
The project included are:
Sandbukta-Moss-Såstad on Østfoldbanen that involves the construction of a 10 km double-track line, a tunnel under Moss city centre and through Carlberget. A new station will be established in the City of Moss. The planned construction will start in 2019 and will be completed in 2025;
Venjar-Eidsvoll-Langset involves the construction of a 13 km double track line that should be completed by 2024. The line is part of Dovrebanen mainline that serves traffic between Trøndelag/Åndalsnes and the stations between Lillehammer and Oslo.
Kleverud-Sørli envisages the construction of 16 km double track and the construction of a new railway station and Norway’s longest rail bridge (1 km); by 2023 the project is estimated to be operational and is part of Dovre Line;
Drammen-Kobbervikdalen involves the construction of a 9 km double-track line that should be launched in 2018, with a completion deadline by 2024. The Drammen city Council approved the project in December 2016.
Nykirke-Barkåker line will be a 14 km double track, including a new station. The project’s impact assessment was adopted in 2014.
Ringeriksbanen and E16 projects will reduce the time travel between Hønefoss and Oslo by one hour. Under the project, 40 km double track will be constructed between Sandvika and Hønefoss. The estimated value of the project is NOK 26 billion (EUR 2.78 billion) and the construction works should be started in 2019.
“Bane NOR wants the most cost-effective development of railway projects. In this context, we see that foreign competition will be a contribution, and we encourage cooperation between established and new suppliers, ” Morten Sigvardsen said.
