Nigeria awards China a contract for Abuja mass transit railway

The Nigerian Government has awarded a USD 1.79 billion contract to China Civil Engineering Construction Corp (CCECC) for the second phase of Abuja’s mass transit railway. The project will be funded by Export-Import Bank of China, said Muhammad Bello, minister of Federal Capital Development Authority.
The rail line is expected to link the commercial cities of Lagos and Ibadan in the Southwest of the country.
CCECC was also involves in the construction of the first phase of the project.
