Mumbai approves two new metro lines

mumbaiMumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority approved the construction of two metro line (L5 and L6) totaling 38.5 km. The Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan (L5) will have a length of 24 km and 17 stations. The project is estimated at Rs. 8,416 crore (USD 1.22 billion).
The Lokhandwala-Jogeshwari-Vikhroli-Kanjurmarg (L6) will have a length of 14.5 km and 13 stations. The cost of the project is estimated at Rs. 6,672 crore (USD 918 million).
Both these projects shall be placed before the State Cabinet for government approval. All the projects will be started by 2018 and finished within 4 years of starting.
