Moscow Central Ring tickets available via smartphone

rzdMoscow installed a contact-free ticket system on Central Ring (MCR) for smartphone users, who will be able to pay for rides on the ring by touching their phones to the reader at the ticket gate. A special SIM card and application are required to pay for rides on the Moscow Central Ring via smartphone. MCR tickets purchased via smartphone will be also accepted for the metro for 90 minutes after their purchase.
“The MCR has the same payment services as the Moscow Metro, including with the innovative NFC, PayPass and PayWave technology. We had to change legislation to legalise the integration of the federal railway infrastructure and the municipal transit system,” Moscow’s Department for Transport and Road Infrastructure Development said.
The Moscow Central Ring (MCR) opened on 10 September 2016. It currently has 28 operating stations. Six million people used the MCR in the first month of its operation.
