Midland Metro tram line re-opened ahead of schedule

Midland Metro tram service in the West Midlands is now serving all stops between Wolverhampton and Birmingham, including Wolverhampton St. George’s and The Royal which re-opened on December 8, two days ahead of schedule.
The Midland Metro Alliance completed the tram track replacement works along the Bilston Road in Wolverhampton ahead of schedule on 2 December 2017. Essential testing by the Midland Metro operator was supposed to be completed so that a full tram service could resume between Birmingham and Wolverhampton on Sunday 10 December.
“These were essential maintenance works that had to be done and I would like to thank the Midland Metro Alliance and their contractors for their hard work in finishing ahead of schedule, and also the public for their patience during the works,” Phil Hewitt, Head of Metro Development for Transport for West Midlands said.
National Express Midland Metro operates the tram service on behalf of Transport for West Midlands (TfWM), part of the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA). The route between Wolverhampton and Birmingham also serves also areas such as West Bromwich and Wednesbury.
