Lviv to launch tender for automated fare collection system

Lviv public transport company Lvivavtodor will launch a tender to implement automated fare collection (AFC) system, splited into two stage procurement process involving a separate pre-qualification stage. It is expected that the tender will commence in early May 2017.
The project, which has an estimated value of up to EUR 10 million will require the procurement of the system that will be financed by European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The system is to operate on approximately 120 trams, 75 trolleybuses and 270 buses operated by the Lviv municipal public transport operators and approximately 500 minibuses operated by other licensed providers. In addition, the automated fare collection system may be used to support payment for future city services, such as parking, municipal bike rent, suburban rail network, etc. The card system is also to act as a citizen card providing access to selected city facilities.
Lvivavtodor intends to own and operate the automated fare collection system and provide the equipment to transport operators as part of a service. It is expected that under implementation the company will require maintenance and support for at least 3 years and potentially for the life of the system.
