The rail freight operator LTG Cargo Polska has taken a significant step in expanding its international operations after obtaining the Single Safety Certificate in Germany.
The new authorization allows the operator to carry out rail freight transport to Germany under its own management, without relying on other operators in this market.
“Obtaining this certificate in Germany will allow us to operate transport to this country independently, which will result in more efficient and operationally flexible transport services. One of LTG Cargo Polska’s strengths as an operator is the efficient transport of goods between Poland, Ukraine, and the Baltic states, and we have now received a strong boost to expand our operations into Germany. We believe these routes are of great interest to our customers,” said Laimonas Nekrošius, President of LTG Cargo Polska.
For customers, this development means more reliable services, shorter transit times, and more efficient transport organization by reducing the number of partners involved in the logistics chain. In addition, direct operation provides the company with greater flexibility and an increased ability to adapt to market demands.
Expansion into Central and Northern Europe
Last year, LTG Cargo Polska acquired, with the support of European funds, special railcars for intermodal transport on the Kaunas (Lithuania) – Duisburg (Germany) route. Strengthening its own rolling stock fleet allows for more efficient transport planning and increases the reliability of services offered to customers.
Additionally, in 2024, the parent company LTG Cargo obtained rail operator licenses in Latvia and Estonia, enabling the transport of goods between Lithuania and Estonia without changing locomotives. Together with the new certificate obtained in Germany, this development paves the way for a more efficient logistics flow throughout the Central and Northern European region.
In addition to regular intermodal services between Duisburg and Kaunas, LTG Cargo Polska also transports petroleum products between Poland and Germany.
Currently, the company has 130 employees and operates a fleet of over 350 European-gauge railcars and 20 locomotives, including Siemens-manufactured locomotives used for international freight transport.
