Leo Express presents its new Talgo trains

Leo Express, a private railway operator in Central Europe, has unveiled the new visual identity of its Talgo trains, which will enter service in 2026 on several international routes. The new trains mark an important step in the expansion of the company’s network in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Germany.

According to the company, the new trains represent more than just a change in design.

“The introduction of Talgo trains marks a new chapter in the development of Leo Express. It’s not just about a new design, but about expanding our services, network, and brand ambitions. We will offer new connections that other operators do not provide,” said Peter Köhler, CEO of Leo Express.

350-seat Talgo trains

Talgo trains are traction-driven trains with 13 carriages and a total capacity of 350 passengers, operated under a partnership between Leo Express and Renfe. They offer low-floor access and facilities for people with reduced mobility.

Thanks to their tilting system and advanced bogie technology, the trains can provide a smoother ride on winding routes and reach speeds of up to 200 km/h.

Leo Express will operate them with modern multi-system locomotives adapted to international traffic.

A new visual identity

The new paint scheme develops the operator’s visual identity. The trains will have a predominantly white exterior with orange accents and graphic elements inspired by the technological field, designed to highlight the dynamism and international character of the company.

Leo Express branding will be prominently displayed on each carriage, and the logo and web address will also be inscribed on the roof of the trains.

At the same time, interior design is also underway, with the company promising spacious seats in both Business and Economy class.

Major expansion in 2026

The introduction of Talgo trains is part of a broader plan to expand services in 2026.

In the first half of the year, Leo Express will launch:

  • Domestic services in Poland on the Krakow–Warsaw route from March 1, 2026, including international connections Prague–Krakow–Warsaw;
  • A new international connection between Prague and Bratislava, via Pardubice, Olomouc, and other cities in Moravia, starting on April 30, 2026;
  • A long-distance international route to Germany, Frankfurt am Main–Leipzig–Dresden–Prague–Ostrava–Krakow–Przemyśl, starting on June 25, 2026;
  • Introduction of Talgo trains on the Prague – Ostrava – Žilina – Prešov route;
  • A Krakow – Lviv bus service connected to Leo Express trains.

By entering the German market, Leo Express will become the first Czech operator to run long-distance international services in Germany at its own commercial risk.

At the same time, the company is entering the domestic market in Poland, where it has already been active in the international segment since 2018.

The Czech operator estimates that with the new routes and the introduction of Talgo trains, the number of passengers will increase by at least 1.5 million in 2026, exceeding the threshold of 6 million annually.
