Kyrgyzstan offers China the concession of China-Kyrgyzstan railway

KyrgyzstanKyrgyzstan proposed China to consider concession option for the development of the project for the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan railway, Minister of Transport and Communications Kalykbek Sultanov said, reports AKIpress News Agency.
“That is, we are offering creation of a joint company “Kyrgyzstan-China”. The Kyrgyz side will assume the area for the construction of the railway, and the Chinese side will finance the construction. The Chinese side has accepted a proposal positively, and the Chinese experts are studying the issue. The second round of negotiations will soon take place,” he said.
In January, President of Kyrgyzstan, Almazbek Atambayev, and General Manager of Kyrgyz Temir Joly, Argynbek Malabaev, discussed the Kyrgyzstan – China rail project. The President instructed to work closely all relevant issues related to the implementation of this project, as well as to discuss them once more with the relevant Chinese authorities. The rail line would connect China and Uzbekistan through Kyrgyzstan and its length is 268 km. The line will run from China’s city of Kashgar in Xinjiang through the Arpa valley via Kyrgyzstan’s Kara-Suu town to Uzbekistan’s city of Andijan in the Ferghana Valley. The total value of the project is estimated at USD 2 billion.
