KeolisAmey has commenced a new eight-year contract to continue operating and maintaining the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) in London. The network, covering 40km with 45 stations across east and southeast London, has been managed by KeolisAmey since 2014 and is recognised globally as a leading automated light rail system.
Under the new agreement, KeolisAmey will build on its existing collaboration with Transport for London (TfL) and focus on enhancing the network’s social value for passengers, employees, and local communities. The introduction of 54 new trains over the course of the contract aims to improve service quality and capacity.
Keolis UK Chief Executive Alistair Gordon emphasised the company’s commitment to further improving the DLR, working closely with TfL and leveraging expertise from other international transport systems.
Amey Managing Director Peter Anderson highlighted the extensive knowledge gained over the past decade, which will be used to enhance asset management, integrate data-driven insights, and introduce new trains to maintain the DLR’s reputation as a world-class automated metro.
Carrying an average of 122 million passengers annually, the DLR is the UK’s busiest light rail network and employs 860 people. Since taking over, KeolisAmey has implemented various service and infrastructure improvements, working with TfL to maintain a 99% departure record and achieve record-high customer satisfaction rates.
