Jernbaneverket invested EUR 266 million in rail maintenance

norvegia mentenanta 2015Last year, Jernbaneverket has renewed rail existing systems at a cost of around NOK 2.5 billion (EUR 265.8 million), an increase compared to previously NOK 800 million (EUR 85 million) that was invested in similar initiatives.
2015 was defined by Jernbaneverket as the first big year of maintenance. The backlog of maintenance on the rail network was estimated to amount to just over NOK 17 billion (EUR 1.8 billion).
In the summer of 2015, the infrastructure division submitted a maintenance plan for the period until 2027. This plan has formed the basis for the maintenance proposal in the forthcoming National Transport Plan period (2018-2029). This maintenance plan outlines measures for dealing with the entire backlog by 2030, and this has also been adopted as the transport agencies’ proposal in their essential document for the next National Transport Plan.
