Italferr supports Peru for Trasandino railway tunnel construction

Italferr, the consulting subsidiary of Italian state-owned railway infrastructure Ferrovie dello Stato, has been awarded an initial contract for the Trasandino tunnel, Peru, in association with other engineering companies.

Worth EUR 1.6 million, the contract covers a transport study, a financial analysis of the project and an evaluation of the technological solutions to be adopted.

The 23.2km Trasandino tunnel is a multi-billion dollar mega project to develop rail links between the capital city of Lima and the country’s central regions. It will pass through part of Peru’s Andes mountain range and reduce the journey time between the capital Lima and the city of Huancayo.
