India: China to build Mysuru – Bengaluru – Chennai HSR

India_HSR_visionDuring a meeting with India’s National Railway Administration (NRA) China proposed to build a high-speed rail line between Mysuru and Chennai via Bengaluru, the New Indian Express reports.
“The team had submitted an inception report regarding the Mysuru-Chennai high speed corridor to the Railway Board last month. The team was in Chennai in connection with a detailed report on the project. The group is expected to submit its final report in October this year, he added,” a railway official said.
A MoU and an action plan for the Chennai-Bengaluru-Mysore corridor were signed in September 2014 between the Railway Board and NRA in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to Delhi.
