Hong Kong MTR introduces Avaya communications solutions

12-hong-kong_mtrHong Kong MTR deployed Avaya Team Engagement and video solutions to connect staff across 87 stations and allow them to work together more effectively. With the support of Avaya and its partner in this project, Hong Kong Telecom, Hong Kong MTR upgraded its communications platform to an IP architecture. Due to the capability of the Avaya solution to support both IP and traditional phones, Hong Kong MTR was able to move to the new architecture while retaining digital phones at many work spaces, protecting its existing investment and ensuring higher reliability.
With the help of the Avaya extension-to-cellular feature, mobile workers can always be reached using a single number. Avaya One-X Communicator is integrated with Microsoft Lync, so users are aware of the presence of colleagues and can click to call them whenever needed. Workers in subway stations have installed Avaya Scopia on their mobile devices, enabling them to initiate or join video conferences easily. In the two control centers of Hong Kong MTR, IT staff can see the status of all stations from a large screen and can connect with a station by just clicking the corresponding button.
