Hitachi acquires stake in Frauscher Rail Signalling Systems India

04-hitachiHitachi has acquired a minority interest in Frauscher Rail Signalling Systems India, a builder of rail signaling equipment. Frauscher Rail Signalling Systems India, a member of the Austria-based Frauscher group, makes sensors for detecting the positions of trains on tracks.
Hitachi and Japanese trading house Mitsui & Co. were part of consortia that obtained some 38 billion yen ($361 million) in orders last December to supply and install rail operations control systems, including signaling and telecommunications systems, for a dedicated freight corridor in India. Hitachi will start out by working with the Indian company to develop equipment for the orders that conforms to local specifications and regulations. Later, the two will collaborate to develop other equipment and seek other orders.
