Helsinki: Siemens might take legal action against HKL

helsinkiSiemens is considering taking legal action against the Helsinki City Transport (HKL) for the latter’s decision to terminate the contracts for the automation of the Helsinki Metro. The Helsinki City Board recently approved HKL’s decision to terminate the contracts with Siemens. HKL decided in December to terminate the contracts on grounds of disagreements about the cost of the project.
According to Juha Lehtonen, the head of mobility at Siemens, Siemens has already invested over one hundred million euros in the automation technology and installations. The Germany-based multinational company is poised to demand that HKL compensate it for the costs and losses incurred in the course of the project.
