Hector Rail signs new transport service contract

Rail operator Hector Rail and Swedish mining company LKAB, signed a new 5-year contract starting in December 2017.
The contract is to run traffic from Luleå to Kiruna via Malmberget 7 days a week, Hector Rail will also provide shunting in Luleå and Malmberget, Sweden.
Under the contract, Vectron locomotive was selected to perform transport services, as part of both parties’ commitment to sustainability and the environment. The Vectron maximizes the use of the electric locomotive and negates the need for a heavy diesel locomotive for the last part of journey. In addition, modern control equipment means lighter locomotives.
Network Rail performs 7,2 million train km/year in operations in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Germany.
