French company interested in TransContainer

French container transport and shipping company CMA CGM Group has expressed an interest in the controlling stake in Russian intermodal container transportation company TransContainer.
Last month, CMA CGM’s CEO Rodolphe Saade wrote a letter to Russia’s President Vladimir Putin about the company’s wish to acquire a stake in TransContainer in partnership with Russian company Logoper. Vladimir Putin referred the subject to the First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov. Logoper is a privately-owned Russian transport-logistics 3PL operator specializing in organizing container trains.
The privatisation of TransContainer is planned for April 2018. The controlling stake is currently owned by RZD, via its subsidiary United Transportation and Logistics Company (UTLC). Before the privatisation, the stake is to be transferred to RZD’s direct ownership.
