Despite tensions in the region, Etihad Rail transported 459,000 tons of cargo in nine days

Rail operator Etihad Rail Freight has transported over 459,000 tons of cargo and approximately 7,900 containers in the last nine days on the United Arab Emirates’ national rail network.

According to the Emirates company, over 100 freight trains were operated during this period, while rail transport continued to operate without interruption, despite tensions in the region affecting supply chains.

The UAE’s national rail network connects the main industrial areas, logistics hubs, and seaports, facilitating the transport of goods along the country’s main trade corridors.

Measures to maintain logistics flows

To strengthen the resilience of the network, the operator has activated additional rail corridors and redistributed intermodal capacity to ports on the east coast of the United Arab Emirates.

The company has also increased transport capacity at the Al Ghail Dry Port rail terminal by introducing five additional freight train services.

According to the operator, these measures are intended to maintain the efficiency of supply chains and respond to increased transport demand.

Railway, a central element of logistics in the United Arab Emirates

Since the launch of commercial rail freight services, the Etihad Rail network has become an important component of the logistics infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates.

Rail transport offers companies a more efficient and sustainable alternative to road transport, helping to improve the performance of supply chains.

The operator said its teams remain in constant coordination with national authorities to ensure the continuity of rail transport services.
