China to build the world’s deepest rail station-under Great Wall

chinaChina has announced plans to build a high-speed railway station under the Great Wall, that will be the deepest and largest high-speed railway station in the world. It is expected to be completed by July, 2020.
The ambitious plan is part of a 174-km high-speed railway that will connect Beijing with Zhangjiakou for the 2022 Winter Olympics. Along the way to the Olympic facilities in Zhangjiakou, passengers will be able to stop off at Badaling, the most visited section of the Great Wall, 80 km from Beijing.
According to the plans, the station will be built at 102 metres under the Badaling section, and will occupy 36,000 square metres, Chen Bin, the director of the project, told China Daily. The station will have three floors and separate levels for arriving and departing passengers.
