CEF funding for Rail Baltica applied

rail balticaRB Rail, the central coordinator for Rail Baltica, submitted a project proposal to the European Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA) for EUR 210.7 million grant from Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) LETA reports. Including national co-financing, the total eligible cost of the project proposal is expected to be EUR 248 million.
The majority of funds requested in this submission are designated for the design, upgrade and construction of the Rail Baltica 1435 mm gauge track from the Latvian to the Polish border in Lithuania while in Estonia the funding should ensure a link from the planned Ulemiste passenger terminal to Tallinn airport. Furthermore, the project proposal covers a range of further technical studies in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
