CCECC inks rail contract in Iran

China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, a subsidiary of China Rail Cons, has received a contract from the Construction and Development of Transportation Infrastructure Company Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran. The contract concerns the construction of Kermanshah – Khosravi rail line. The rail line has a length of 263 km with a construction period of 48 months. The contract amount is approximately RMB3.53 billion (EUR 450 million). The line connects Iran’s Western provinces to the National Grid and to Tehran and will significantly support the social, economic and cultural development of the Western provinces. In addition, this rail project will reduce transport cost to the Western provinces, positively impact safety and substantially increase passenger and cargo traffic.
In the first year of operation, 2.3 million tonnes will be transported, and during the next years, the capacity will increase to 3 million tonnes and to 5.5 million tonnes.
