Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique agree on railway rehabilitation

Mozambic-tren_Mozambique-ressano-trainBotswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique have agreed to conduct reviews to repair the railway infrastructure connecting them to enable easy coal exportation. Minerals, Energy and Water Resources Minister Kitso Mokaila, from Botswana, said the three countries had agreed on a consultancy to review and restore the railway line.
“We are in talks with Zimbabwe on agreements on the review of the consultancy,” Mokaila said.
In 2011, Mozambique and Botswana signed a memorandum of understanding to develop a 1,100 km railway through Zimbabwe to carry coal from Botswana to Mozambique.
