Boston’s new metro car mock-up unveiled

The Governor of Massachusetts and Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority CEO Stephanie Pollack unveiled the mock-up of the new vehicles that will replace all the trains on the Boston’s Orange and Red metro lines over the next few decades.
China Railroad Rolling Stock Corp. is building a USD 60 million factory in Springfield to manufacture the cars that is expected to be completed this year. Starting with 2018, the company will begin the construction of the cars at the new plant. Each of the new cars costs about USD 2.43 million.
The USD 566.6 million contract was signed for the delivery of 284 cars.
