Azerbaijan: rail tariffs not to be regulated by state

07-azerbaijanTariffs for cargo and passenger traffic by rail will not be regulated by the state on the territory of Azerbaijan. This comes following a decision of the country’s Cabinet of Ministers to amend the “List of goods (work, services), the prices (tariffs) which are regulated by state”, excluding rail tariffs from the list. The rights to regulate rail tariffs have been transferred to Azerbaijan Railways.
“Previously, these functions were performed by the Tariff (Price) Council of Azerbaijan due to the fact that Azerbaijan Railways CJSC was subordinate to the country’s ministry of transport. However, in accordance with the decree of the president of Azerbaijan dated September 18, 2015, Azerbaijani Railways CJSC became an independent structure and was transferred to the jurisdiction of the country’s Cabinet of Ministers,” head of the press-service of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC Nadir Azmammadov said.
