Alstom modernizes fleet for Rocky Mountaineer

04-Rocky MountaineerVancouver-based luxury tourist train operator Rocky Mountaineer entered a strategic partnership with Alstom to rejuvenate the luxury tourist rail company’s fleet of domed SilverLeaf rail cars. The project requires Rocky Mountaineer cars to be stripped to their frame and trucks and entirely re-engineered, producing newly refurbished train cars that will be added to the Rocky Mountaineer fleet.
The engineering and design process was completed in 2015 and resulted in a complete interior renovation to upgrade the cars in terms of technology, comfort and aesthetic. The cars are custom built by Alstom with the signature oversized windows, luxurious seating and state of the art mechanical systems.
“We underwent extensive research to understand what our guests require to be completely comfortable and have every amenity available at their seat. Alstom is a leader in train car builds and often at the helm of new developments in engineering. After much consideration and evaluation of prospective partners, Alstom had the expertise to produce the best possible SilverLeaf cars,” said Gord Miller, VP of rail operations and asset development, Rocky Mountaineer.
