Railway Days 2014

As important component of the Eurasian economy, in the past years, the international freight transport has brought its contribution to the positive evolution of the countries in this region.

Seeing as countries in Central Asia get closer to the European Union and considering the option of the latter of promoting transports with reduced environmental impact, the interest of including railways in programmes for the construction of intermodal corridors that link the two continents is growing.

At national level, railways enjoy a remarkable ascent in countries such as Turkey or the confirmation of the major economic role in countries such as Russia. At the same time, in many countries from Eastern Europe, statistics record worrying falls in the number of passengers or transport volumes, while state-owned railway companies are on the verge of financial collapse.

For the countries in Wider Black Sea Area, the proximity of the Economic Union and the intensification of relationships with the latter also imposes the reformation (liberalisation) of the railway system.

All these perspectives and problems create the image of the Eurasian railway market which will be debated during a new edition of the Railway Days strategic event, organised by Club Feroviar and the Romanian Railway Industry Association (AIF). We are very pleased to announce the Railway Days 2014 – Efficient governance of railway transport in Wider Black Sea Area (WBSA) summit, the 9th edition, organised under the aegis of CER, UNIFE and ERFA on 7 and 8 October in Bucharest.
