96 companies shortlisted for Kuala Lumpur LRT3 project

04-malaysiaMalaysia has shortlisted 96 companies for the Light Rail Transit Line 3 (LRT3) project in Kuala Lumpur, worth nine billion ringgit ($2.25 billion). The tender process for the 37-km project will start this month.
“Successful bidders will play an important role in realising the LRT3 aspiration to extend connectivity to the Western Corridor of Greater Kuala Lumpur and Klang Valley,” said Prasarana chief executive Azmi Abdul Aziz.
LRT3 is expected to begin construction this year. Once fully completed by 2020, LRT3 will carry up to 74,000 passengers daily between its 26 stations. Prasarana, the country’s biggest public transport operator, will own the assets.
